My PC keeps coming up with an Error Message after I install Norton Internet Security. Can anyone halp?
Older versions of Norton leave traces in the registry which interfere with the newer versions.

Norton recommend un-installing older versions before installing newer ones.

Go to symantec.com (Norton) web site and download the norton un-installer.

Run it and it will remove every trace of Norton (all versions)

Then re-install Norton 2007.

In the unlikely event that the problem reappears talk to Symantec Help Line they are very good.
Reply:I had a problem with an error message on mine a few weeks ago but that was every time i tried installing updates.I eventually updated the Norton updater and problem solved. Is your error message offering a send error report,if it is then send, you may get some help.Good luck.
Reply:Common prob registry key setting not compatible so uninstall norton
Reply:Norton's products are all pure junk and keep getting worse with each an every year. No really is no help when it comes to Norton's products other then removing. And you will still have a problem with 375 plus fragments of Nortons left all over your pc and attached to files.

If you want to spend money use what I use, technology that is light years ahead of any known antivirus program. You pay only a one time fee of $29.99 for life and you get all auto updates and all new versions for life. Used by the Govt., of China. http://www.filseclab.com

Plus it will catch even a bad trace code virus in any compressed file, like RAR, etc. etc.

If you don't want to spend money then use the next best from AOL, Active Virus Shield, powered by Karpersky engine, Russia.

Reply:you may need to go into the registry editor to remove norton keys from it. I had problems and found that the removal tool off their web site did not remove the registry entries. goto start click run and type regedit, click ok and the editor comes up. use the find in the menu type norton, synamtec etc. search each one individually delete what it finds and go to the menu and click on find next tp delete all entries. it can take a while to do.
Reply:It's usually best to search software manufactures site first! :)

Reinstall or update Windows Script 5.6 choose your windows version. And just follow the steps.

Reply:Try un-installing it and the re-installing it.

Also contact Norton and Microsoft directly.

May be its conflicting with another anti-virus programme.
Reply:Norton has this problem...and in most of the cases u can't uninstall it to reinstall...I could not find out why...

but still

To uninstall use Norton Remover tool, freely availlable in the Net. Remove and reinstall.. I have stopped using Norton..It is good but very heavy on ur resources. Although They do not recommend using this tool but believe me it does no harm.
Reply:I would totally agree with one of the comments. Yes NAV ands NIS leaves about a few hundred fragments of this presence all over the windows system, including the registry. It will be pretty difficult to uninstall this antivirus perfectly. You may try removing this software in safe mode.

If you do not feel comfortable with NIS, try out some cheaper AV software like Dr WEB, AVG or the Chinese based Trojan Remover Ver 7. They will surely make your life much more at ease
