Why can't "law books" be taken out of the library like any other book?

Why is that i can't take out a law book out of the library, is it b/c other ppl might need it since it pertains to law in particular!!

You can find most statutes online. Why deal with the books? Law books and encyclopedias are classified as reference material. Reference material is not loaned out to anyone.
Reply:Ask the librarian. Each library sets its own rules. But I assume it is because the law book you want is treated as a reference book -- a book used often to look up information, often part of a set, which the library asks that you use for research on the premises. Most libraries don't let people check out reference books.
Reply:My first thought is just what you said -- it's a reference book (law in particular) and if you take it then that's a whole bunch of case law that someone else has zero access to.
